Library Workshops

Story Lab hosts at least 2 8-week workshops a year at the East Baton Rouge Public Library’s teen room. We accept 10-15 teen writers every season, and allow as many as 5 writing mentors to offer coaching and feedback. Our workshops are free and volunteer-led. We’ve been hosting these workshops since we formed in 2015.

Juvenile Detention Outreach

Our most recent programming area is taking place at the local juvenile detention center, where we occasionally host multi-arts workshops in storytelling for the detained youth. Every session is intended to be therapeutic and nurturing for the students. We host on Tuesday evenings in their library if possible.

Community Pop-up Storytelling

Story Lab is opening up its programming to area non-profits and community agencies for collaborative storytelling workshops. We've partnered with STAR in Baton Rouge to host a local "speak out" in the spring of 2018. We've also partnered with O'Brien House to launch an essay-writing contest for Louisiana youth to better understand the nature of addiction. If you or your community program are interested in co-hosting a therapeutic workshop, don't hesitate to reach out!
